These were all orders from the autograph dealer. We were trying to make cards of players who had never had cards or who never had cards with a particular team.

Wait, there was another Boomer Wells besides the big lefty starting pitcher of the 1990s?
That's what I was about to say!
Yup...before there was David "Boomer" Wells, there was Greg "Boomer" Wells! And, oddly, this isn't the first post about him in the baseball card blog world today...Getting Back Into Baseball Cards In Japan had a post about his coffee can figurine thingy today! https://baseballcardsinjapan.blogspot.com/2020/05/cans-of-coffee-that-come-with-baseball.html
Never heard of Greg Wells. In fact, I went 0 for 9 in name recognition on this post. Glad to hear that these guys never had cards or never had cards with a particular team. That makes me feel a little better.
Boomer Wells (Greg) went on to become a massive star in Japan, he won the triple crown one year.
I find it hard to believe that it is a coincidence that there are two Boomer Wells, both of whom came up with the Blue Jays in the 1980s. I suspect (but have zero evidence to back this up) that David Wells nickname came from somebody who remembered the original Boomer (who came up a couple years earlier).
No Fidel Castro?
Anyway, thanks for the cards you sent me. You're quite generous.
