Finally over 1K

This last weekend I received 8 cards in the mail that take me over 1000 Padrographs.  Four of the cards are from 2016 Bowman Draft Picks, 3 came from Ebay and one from a group break.  Four of them are customs that I made and sent to an autograph dealer who got them signed for me.

#997, Cal Quantrill was drafted in the first round in 2016 by the Padres and played in three different places this year.
#998, Hudson Potts was also drafted in the first round in 2016 by the Padres and played for the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Northwest League.
#999, Buddy Reed was drafted in the second round of the draft in 2016 and played in the Northwest League at Tri City.
#1000, Eric Lauer was drafted by the Padres in the first round in 2016 and played at Tri City and Fort Wayne.

#994 and somewhere there is an upset Mariners fan

#994, Royce Ring, custom 2007.  Royce pitched in 15 games for the Padres in 2007.

I rejoiced the other day because a card I sent out during the year arrived at my house, I was looking at Brandon Maurer  autograph.  Then I realized it was a Mariners card, I had sent him a Padres card but he returned a M's card.  Somewhere there is a Mariners fan with a Padres card that he has never seen.

Padrographs #989 and #990

I realize that I have been gone a long time from the blogosphere.  I still make it a point to read many of your blogs every day.  The Padres haven't done much to get me excited this season and Topps just keeps using the same guys on autographed cards.  I would like to see them use more guys with fewer autographs per guy.  I don't think I will  make it to 1,000 Padrographs this season, but I will be close enough to make it early next season. Here a couple that have gotten me closer.

Dusty Allen, Dusty played in 9 games for the Padres in 2000.  This was the only picture I could find of him anywhere and made the custom and got the card signed through an autograph dealer.

Brett Wallace, Brett has played in 170 games for the Padres last year and this year and seems to be an important utility player for them.  I picked this up on ebay.

two more Padrograph customs

Joe Roa, Joe pitched in 18 games for the Padres in 2003.  I used the Heritage design from 2003.
Carlos Baerga, I watched Carlos play his way up through the Padres system from 1985-1989 and thought he was going to be the Padres third baseman for years to come but then he got traded to the Indians.  This is a card that should have been.
These are Padrographs #987 and #988.

All Star Day 2016

12:35 PM There are two days I take off every year.  The second Tuesday of July and November 11. Got the basics of the Honey Do list done before noon.  Then the festivities began with the mail delivery.  2016 Bowman Inception Manuel Margot autograph which makes 983 Padrographs.  Also today came a book that I am looking forward to reading.

12:45 PM Eating my ASG lunch, Chili Cheese Dogs and watching a baseball movie, one I have never seen before, For Love of the Game with Kevin Costner and Kelly Preston.

1:53 PM, For Love of the Game is not really a baseball movie, but a love story with a little bit of baseball in it, but hey John C Reilly and JK Simmons are in it.

3:00 PM, that was a pretty good movie.  The baseball was well done.  You could really tell when it was made by the off field apparel.  The only downer part was when Billy Chapel flashed back to the 1984 World Series against the Padres.  I was going to watch another movie but there really isn't enough time.  So I will just watch TV until the pregame show starts.

4:39 PM, the Pregame has started and so far not too impressed.

4:48 PM, introducing the lineups, Andy Green gives the NL an advantage?  Knowing the park better than anyone.  Lots of Dodger fans at the game. Big shout out for Fernando Rodney from the crowd. Colon gets a big pop too.  Drew Pomeranz get huge pop. Stasburg, hometown kid gets a big pop.

4:52 PM, AL intro, Miggy gets lots of applause, Yankees get taller and taller,

4:54 PM, NL starters, Bring Back the Brown, Wil Myers get huge pop, but I like the Kids unis better.

4:57 PM, filling out the line with all the sailors.  some players high cuffed, none of the kids are though  Some of the players having great fun with the kids with them, especially Big Papi.  Nice shiny gold pieces on Perez's catching gear

5:03 PM, national anthem, who is Rachel Patten?  kids are self conscious when the camera gets in their face.  She forgot the last two words, Play Ball! Nice flyover, another commercial.

5:08 PM, Dick Enberg celebrating Rod Carew and Tony Gwynn with new Batting Championship trophies.  Crying while watching the tribute to Tony.  The crowd chants Tony's name.  Cool looking statues.  Commisioner Manfred seemed to be moved also.

5:17 PM All Star Memories with the players.  34 first time all star, 27 players under 26,

See you after the game.

your source for Andy Green and Tarrik Brock autographed cards

Rocky Gale, Rocky made his major league debut last year with the Padres. He was resigned by the Padres as a minor league free agent and invited to camp as a non roster free agent this year.  I made this card and used the 1988 template because that was the year he was born.  The card came back in about two weeks.

Andy Green is the Padres manager this year.  I used the 1967 template because I knew that would be this years Heritage.  I asked him to sign one card and keep the rest.  He signed and returned them all.  I have given all the extras away.

Tarrik Brock is the first base coach for the Padres this year.  Same story as with Andy Green, sign one and keep the rest.     But he signed them all.

upgrades and additions

These are a combination of customs that I got signed through an autograph dealer, a custom from Gavin at BCB  that I got signed through the  mail, and some through the mail big league request that came back quickly.

Bob Patterson, pitched in three games in September of 1985.  One of my customs, that I got signed through a dealer.

Sam Perlozzo, played in two games in September of 1979, playing in his final major league game on my 22nd birthday. Another of my customs signed through the dealer.

Horace Clarke, played in 42 games for the Padres in 1974.  He and Lowell Palmer were purchased from the Yankees in May of 1974.  I don't know why Horace signed the card twice.  Another of my customs, an upgrade from a previous custom.

Ken Reynolds, pitched in 19 games for the Padres in 1976.  This is an upgrade of a previous custom I had done. I think I will keep the previous custom in  the collection.

I have decided to add signatures from 1936-1968 Padres to my collection if I happen across them,  maybe I can find a Pete Rose card with the Padres.

George "Catfish" Metkovich, appeared in 24 games for the Padres in 1957.  This card and the other two PCL Padres were purchased from a dealer on ebay.

Dolan Nichols, pitched in 41 games for the PCL Padres in 1957.  He also played for the Cubs and Portland in 1957.

Don Dillard played in 95 games for the Padres in 1959.

Matt Kemp is currently playing for the Padres.  The 2015 & 16 took about a week and a half to come back from Peoria.

Melvin Upton, Jr. is also currently playing for the Padres, both of his cards also took about a week and a half to come back.

I currently have 941 different Padres cards signed.
