About Joe Pittman: Joe was drafted by the Astros in 1975. He made his MLB Debut in 1981 with Houston. In 1982 he was traded to the Padres for Danny Boone. After the 1983 season he was traded to the Giants for Champ Summers. After the 1984 season he was released by the Giants. He played two more seasons in the minors before retiring. He coached and scouted for the Astros. During the Senior League inaugural season he played for the champion, the St. Petersburg Pelicans. In 2014 he was working construction in Texas when he collapsed and passed away at the age of 61.
Fun Fact: He was nicknamed "Shoes" while at Southern University, because he had worn white cleats in high school.
