Love 1987 Topps cards, that's my choice.
Even though the 1987 Topps set is one of my favorites, I am going away from that team card and go for the Ed Whitson Donruss card.
I feel like a team-based Frankenset could use a good team card.
Not much excitement here. Going with '87.
I like the 1987 team leaders.
I do not like those "team" cards where they have only a couple of players but don't identify them, so Whitson gets my vote.
Although I like the '87 Topps design, I'm not a big fan of cards with people whose faces you cannot see (but I really like Hawkins' first name, lol). I actually have always liked the '88 Donruss design too (something you don't hear others admit very often). So the '88 Whitson gets my vote.
I used to enjoy those team leader cards back in the day. The '87 gets my vote!
1987 Topps Padres Leaders card gets my vote.
I know a few people aren't into the team cards... but I feel like it adds some variety to the frankenset. As for the meeting on the mound, I tried to do a little detective work... but ultimately failed. Here are my findings though:
a. Hawkings pitched to four different catchers in 1986: Bochy (7 games), Kennedy (25 games), Parent (1 game), and Santiago (4 games).
b. According to Collectors.com, this cards features Kennedy

After about ten minutes, I realized that if Rod has no idea who that Padres catcher is... there is no way I was ever going to find out.
