Autograph Frankenset

A lot of different things and then a battle.

I picked up three more 1963 Astronaut cards.  I now have twelve of the fifty-five cards,  22% of the set.  I am trying now to get the individual cards of each astronaut.  These three are my most recent pick ups.

I picked up a new Padrograph card through a private signing through the Trove Sports Den.  It is a custom card with an amazing uniform transformation job done by Travis Peterson (PunkRockPaint).  Mike Campbell is Padrograph #1237, he appeared in three games for the Padres in 1994.

I picked up what I think might be my favorite Padres card of 2021 off of eBay the other day.  It is a short print of Mike Clevinger with a skate board that Tony Hawk gave him.
We have gone through the first two pages of cards 100-199 and here they are.

Andy Benes won the last battle nine votes to six for James Steels.  Up next is a battery, pitcher Joey Hamilton and catcher Mark Parent in a battle for spot number one hundred nineteen.
Thank you for stopping by and thank you for your assistance.

  1. Hmmm...

Flashy, screaming-for-attention design vs. normal, quiet-but-classy design. I tend to really like quiet-but-classy designs for my collection but I think a screaming-for-attention design is probably more appropriate for a Frankenset binder. I'll vote for the Hamiltion.

  2. Got to be the Hamilton fireball over boring old Score, surely. Although if Score are throwing shade on the cardback like they did on many of them, that would elevate that card. Based on the fronts though? Hamilton.

  3. Topps Laser of course. Not even close.

The custom card came out great!

  4. Congrats on not only getting a very good photo job of Campbell in a Padres uniform, but also the autograph. I know how tough both were.
I gotta vote for the Hamilton as 1996 Topps Laser is one of the best non-flagship sets of all time.

  5. Nice Astronaut additions!

Going with Hamilton. Common, he has die-cut flames!

  6. Those pages look great! I will go with the Hamilton, love those.

  7. Joey Hamilton. It'll spice up that particular page.

  8. Looks like Hamilton's back is on fire. I thought a "fireman" was supposed to be a reliever, not a starter. Sure, put him in.

  9. If you can get the Hamilton card in the binder page without nicking up the edges, then go with that one. Always the drawback with Laser.

  10. It looks like Parent is warily trying to roast his baseball in Hamilton's fire. I'm voting for the die-cut.

  11. That Score set is severely underrated, the card backs (in particular) are glorious. I'll toss my vote that way simply to show the set a little love (though recognizing Score has no chance against lazers and fireballs)

  12. Wow, is that a real Ozzie RC or a reprint?

    I'll go with Hamilton here.

  13. Hamilton for sure. That Clevenger pairs nicely with the '88 Fleer Tim Flannery.

  14. Hamilton gets my vote on this battle.

  15. Hamilton for me. As already mentioned, good luck getting those edges in to the binder.

  16. Topps Laser for sure. This should be a lopsided victory.

  17. Joey Hamilton gets my vote. I like the clevinger card. First flannery with a surfboard and now this.
