• Attended Bill Graham's Day on the Green with The Outlaws, Santana, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Peter Frampton.  
• Living in my own apartment in downtown Oakland near Lake Merritt. 
• Had returned from my first Western Pacific Cruise, visiting Australia, Hong Kong, The Phillipines, Korea and more.
• Had become a Crusty Shellback 
• Padres were managed by John McNamara, Bob Skinner and Alvin Dark
• Only Bob Skinner had a winning record (1-0)
• Padres went 69-93
