A Card I wish I had

Dave Kingman was always one of my favorite players. He is from a small town in Eastern Oregon. In 1977 Dave embarked on a tour of major league baseball. At a time when there were only four divisions in the leagues, Dave played in all four that year. He went from the Mets to the Padres to the Angels to the Yankees. He hit .238 with 11 home runs for the Padres in 56 games that year. I have never seen a Padres card of him. I have only ever seen two pictures of him as a Padre. I wish next time Topps does a fan favorite set that they would do cards of Dave in the '77 style with the Padres and Angels.

Team collectors do you have a player that you wish you had a card of? Someone that played for your favorite team but never got on a card. Who is it?

  1. Boog Powell with the Dodgers. He's actually in a Dodger uniform in the 1978 Topps Dodger team picture card, but he doesn't have his own card because he was out of baseball before the 1977 season ended.

I'm sure there are a bunch of others, but Boog is the one that always stands out for me.

  2. I was a huge Kingman fan too. That's a great picture of his swing.

  3. Just out of curiosity, I'd like to see a Harmon Killebrew Royals card.

  4. i always thought that a 1977 reggie in an orioles uniform was the standard of this sort of missed opportunity, but i agree with night owl about boog, especially since that would have been the 1978 set. marichal in a dodger uni in the 1976 set would have been cool to see as well.

  5. Topps should produce a set of mixed years of cards that never were. I'd like Kenny Holtzman with the Orioles.

  6. Oh and I'd love a 1972 Chris Cannizzaro card with the Cubs.

  7. Dave Kingman is from Pendleton, OR. I had the displeasure of living there for 18 months after graduation. First jobs are hard to come by, anyway, nobody mentions him or talks about him at all. Another fun fact. Kevin Federline, of Brittany Spears fame, has family there. He and Ms. Spears attended his little brother's graduation while I lived there. Awful place actually.
