Frankenset pages 33-36, UPDATED

Added one card to this page, #322 1966 Topps Rich Reichardt.  I am trying to add one card of each year of Topps baseball since 1957 to the Frankenset.  Except for 1960 because it is a horizontal year.

Added one card to these pages.  #255 Seattle Seahawks Quarterback Jim Zorn.  Because you can't have Largent (#5) without Zorn.

Frankenset pages 25-28, UPDATED

There was a battle for a spot here.  #218, Craig Ehlo was challenged by former Raider Todd Christensen.  Todd won the battle for two reasons, 1.  He went to high school in the same town I did and was only a year ahead of me and 2. he played for the Raiders.  He passed away in 2013 at the age of 57 from complications incurred while undergoing liver transplant surgery.

Frankenset Pages 9-12, UPDATED

UPDATED
New cards with some replaced.  #47 The Usos are gone replaced by USFL player Tim Spencer of the Showboats, since I want to have as many different leagues and sports and things represented. #91 Zach Cates is replaced by local NBA legend A.C. Green, who also played for my all time favorite basketball team the Lakers. #94 is a new addition Ray Pinney of the USFL Invaders.  #107 Jonathan Lewis, soccer draft pick and #108 Pedro Morales of the Vancouver Whitecaps.

UPDATED
No replacements just a couple of new cards.  #119 I watched Larry Bowa play at AAA Eugene in the early seventies and then after his playing days he was the Padres manager for awhile.  #143 Stacey Thomas of the short lived WNBA Portland Fire.  The Fire was extremely popular while they were here.

New cards and replacements.  #41 Corey Graves is out and Hal Smith is in.  I wanted to get cards from each vertical year of Topps, and 1957 is the first year of standard sized cards.  An added benefit is that Hal Smith is Tim Flannery's uncle.  #56 country music star Tracy Lawrence, he sings a song that means a lot to us and friends who have become family, "Find Out Who Your Friends Are"

Frankenset pages 1-4 UPDATED

OLD

There has been some bumping and some additions to the first four pages.  I actually completed the first page, by adding card #7 former Padre pitcher Ian Kennedy.  At #5 Jack Cust got bumped for several reasons, one; I prefer vertical cards, two; former Seahawk receiver and former US Senator and football HOFer Steve Largent will always prevail.  Former Padre Jesse Garcia at #14 was replaced by former minor league player, manager and now scout for the Pirates, Mike Basso.  At number #33 we have Tony Tchani, whom I know nothing about, but I needed a card for that spot.  Jerry Lawler at #36 was replaced by Beau Vaughn of the Portland Sea Dogs, because I love that card.

Padrographs #1137-#1139

Padrograph #1137, Grant Little.  An outfielder drafted in the second round of the 2018 draft.  Played at Tri Cities last year and is at Fort Wayne this year.  I obtained the card from ebay.

Padrograph #1138, Sean Guilbe. Sean makes me feel old.  He is ten years younger than my youngest son.  He was drafted in the twelfth round of the 2018 draft and is an infielder/outfielder.  He played in the Arizona league last year so I am guessing that he will be at Tri Cities this year. I got the card from an ebay dealer.

Padrograph #1139, George Williams. George was a catcher who spent three seasons in Oakland and played eleven games for the Padres in 2000 before retiring.  I sent this custom to his home and it took almost three months to come back, but come back it did.

Frankenset page #65

This is the last page of the Frankenset and the reason the set is 585 cards.  There will not be any cards in the last four rows. The four pages before this have no cards in them.
#582; Tim Flannery, 1988 Fleer #582.  Tim is two weeks younger than I am and years ago I sent him a mix-tape of surf tunes and he gave me a copy of his second CD.  We have met a couple of times and I once helped him inspire the minor league team he was managing at the time to a win.  He recently signed this for me.  You can catch him on the MLB network occasionally, check out his music at TimFlannery.com and check out his charity work at the Love Harder Project.

Now I can go and start putting in other cards that I have picked up.  Some cards will have to battle for their place in the set.

Topps Total Returns

Today topps announced that it is kinda relaunching Total.  I really liked the original because you got cards of players you wouldn't otherwise get.  This time in a twist the cards are only available on Topps.com, they will come ten cards to a pack.  900 cards available in 9 waves of 100 cards.  I think I will try and get the Padres team set, which means that I will need to trade with others.  Each wave will be available every three weeks.  This will be interesting to say the least.  If you are interested in trading for any teams let me know.  Thank you.

Frankenset pages 41-44

#372, Stephane Veilleux, is here because I wanted to represent the sports team with the coolest logo ever.

Frankenset Pages 37-40

As you can see there are several pages with next to no cards on them.  I hope to pick up some cards this weekend at the Mall 205 card show.
#350; Bruce Bochy, born in France and wearer of the largest hat in the major leagues.  In 1988 when he was a player-coach with the Las Vegas Stars a friend and I mocked Bruce by chanting, Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Bruce Bochy, Hall of Fame.  Little did we know we were making a prediction that I think may come true.  I think Bruce will make the Hall of Fame as a manager.

#294; Dave Staton, I once met Dave's Grandma at a Portland Beavers vs. Las Vegas Stars game.  We talked for awhile and I showed her the ballpark.  Dave's batting practice jersey has its own legend as it has traveled the world.
#298; Bernard Reedy, I remember seeing a story about Bernard during the Super Bowl in 2018 that moved me to get this card.
#318; Walter Davis, a Portland Trailblazer that came in a lot of cards I bought

#256; Keith Ballard, came in a lot of NHL cards I bought for this project
#262; Greg Booker, pitcher for the Padres, Giants and Twins.  Son-in-law of Trader Jack McKeon, who once traded Greg to the Twins.  Greg sadly just passed away at age 58 on March 30,2019.
#278; Ricky Bones, pitcher for the Padres and several other teams in his 11 year long major league careers.  One of several Las Vegas Stars that I gave a ride to when they missed the team bus.
#280; Kenny Walker and #281, Larry Nance came in a signed NBA lot.

#237; Ron Roeneicke, I think I got this the same time I got the Wojna card signed.  I wish he would sign one of the Padres cards I have sent him.

#189; Milton Bradley, because who wouldn't want to have a signed card of the maker of millions of board games in their collection.  Really it was in a lot of Padres cards I bought
#195; Jared Wells, former Padres farmhand who played for the Padres and Mariners in 2008.
#198; Ron Cey, because he is the favorite player of Night Owl.  Also because he is one of the first players I remember.  I didn't realize that he is 9 years older than I am.
#215; Danny Ainge, Danny attended North Eugene High School and I attended South Eugene High School so I remember watching Danny in High School.

Padrograph #1136

Mike Griffin enjoyed a major league career from 1979-1989 and pitched for the Padres for seven games in 1982.  I obtained this signature on a custom I made through an autograph dealer I know.

frankenset pages 17-20

#145; Greg Grunberg, dude has been in more shows than I can count and I like him
#149; Billy Crain, Billy is an awesome guitar player who has played with everybody who is anyone in Southern Rock.  I really like his sound.  He is also the father-in-law of my niece
#156; Tony Gwynn, Jr.  The son of a legend and a good player in his own right.
#163; Dan Majerle, it was included with some other cards I bought as were
#168, Juan Bonilla and
#177, Marvin McNutt

As we go further in there are fewer cards that are several pages with zero or 1 cards.
